Created by Wang Ximeng during the Northern Song Dynasty, Qianli Jiangshan Tu (千里江山图) — "A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains" — stretches across nearly twelve metres of silk, depicting mountains, rivers, mist, and sky in breathtaking blue-green mineral pigments. The artist was just eighteen years old. He painted the entire scroll in one sitting, in a state of complete absorption.
