🐼 A Message from TaijiPanda Afeng
"In Taiji, we speak of the Four Pillars — the four foundations that hold a life in balance. In TCM, there are Four Treasures that hold the body in balance: Qi, Blood, Yin, and Yang. This tea honours all four. It is not a quick fix. It is a daily practice of deep nourishment — the kind that builds quietly, steadily, and lasts."
Hi, I'm Afeng — your TaijiPanda guide to ancient wellness. Of all the teas I've formulated, this is the one I consider most complete. Four herbs. Four functions. One cup that addresses the root of what most people in the modern world are missing: Qi and Blood.
When Qi is deficient, you feel tired, breathless, and unmotivated. When Blood is deficient, you feel pale, anxious, and unable to calm down or sleep well. This blend — rooted in thousands of years of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) — gently and systematically rebuilds both. For men and women. For every season. For every day.
🌿 The Four Treasures — One Complete Formula
- Astragalus (黄耆 Huángqí) — The great Qi builder. Astragalus is one of the most studied and revered herbs in the entire TCM pharmacopoeia. It tonifies Wei Qi (protective energy), strengthens the Spleen and Lung, supports immune resilience, and — in classical texts — is said to "lift the spirit and brighten the complexion." This is the foundation of the blend: the herb that makes everything else work better.
- Codonopsis (党参 Dǎng Shēn) — Often called "poor man's ginseng," Codonopsis is a gentle but powerful Qi tonic that tonifies the Middle Jiao (Spleen and Stomach), generates fluids, and supports the production of Qi and Blood from food. Where Astragalus builds the outer defence, Codonopsis nourishes the inner source. Together, they are the classic Qi-building duo of TCM.
- Ophiopogon / Dwarf Lilyturf (麦冬 Màidōng) — The Yin nourisher. Ophiopogon moistens the Lungs, nourishes Heart Yin, and calms the spirit. In TCM, a nourished Heart Yin is the secret to calm sleep, emotional stability, and the ability to remain centred under pressure. It is the cooling, moistening counterbalance to the warming Qi tonics — ensuring this formula is balanced for all constitutions.
- American Ginseng (西洋参 Xīyáng Shēn) — The adaptogen. Unlike Korean red ginseng, American ginseng is cool in nature — it tonifies Qi and Yin simultaneously, making it suitable for those who run warm, feel stressed, or are prone to heat signs. It supports mental clarity, physical endurance, and the deep reserves of energy that allow you to stay calm and capable under pressure. A favourite of the Taiji practitioner.
"Four herbs. Four functions. One cup that builds from the inside out."
🍵 How to Brew Your Daily Foundation
Option A — Red Date Variety (Warming & Nourishing):
- Place 1–2 bags (5g each) into your cup or teapot.
- Pour water at 90–95°C.
- Steep for 5–8 minutes. The colour will deepen to a warm amber. Refill 2–3 times.
- Best enjoyed in the morning or early afternoon as your daily Qi foundation.
Option B — Ophiopogon Variety (Cooling & Yin-Nourishing):
- Same brewing method. This variety has a slightly cooler, more delicate flavour profile.
- Best enjoyed in the afternoon or early evening — especially for those who run warm or feel anxious.
- Excellent as part of your calm sleep preparation ritual.
Both varieties are naturally caffeine-free and safe for daily, long-term use.
