🖤 Where Earth Meets Ceremony
Greetings, I'm AFENG — and this is one of my favourite pieces in the Taiji Sleep collection.
This Zen Black Pottery Kung Fu Tea Set is born from the ancient craft of black-fired clay — a technique rooted in Chinese and East Asian ceramic tradition that produces a surface as deep and grounding as a moonless night. Finished with gold tracing details and presented in a premium gift box, this set is where Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetics meet TCM ritual wisdom.
It is not just a tea set. It is a daily practice in how to calm down.
✨ The Taiji Way: Why Black Pottery for Calm & Sleep
- Grounding energy (接地气) — In TCM philosophy, dark earth tones carry Yin energy: cooling, calming, and deeply restorative. Holding a black clay cup is itself a grounding practice.
- Bedtime ritual anchor — Brewing a slow cup of herbal tea or aged pu-erh 60–90 minutes before sleep is one of TCM's most effective sleep rituals. This set makes that moment sacred.
- Taichi & Tai Chi flow — Like the movements of Taiji, the Kung Fu tea ceremony is a moving meditation. Each pour, each breath, each sip — a return to centre.
- How to calm down — the tea way — When the mind races, the hands need something slow and intentional to do. Gongfu cha (功夫茶) is that practice. This set is your anchor.
- Zen minimalism — The matte black surface, gold accents, and clean lines create a visual stillness that signals to the nervous system: it is time to rest.
🎁 The Perfect TCM-Inspired Gift
This set is ideal for anyone on a wellness journey — or anyone you love who needs a moment of peace:
- Taichi, Tai Chi, Qigong, and meditation practitioners
- Yoga studios, wellness retreats, and spa environments
- TCM practitioners, acupuncturists, and holistic health professionals
- Corporate wellness gifting and executive appreciation
- Housewarming, birthday, anniversary, and holiday gifting
- Anyone searching for how to calm down, manage stress, or build a sleep ritual
- Lovers of Japanese-style aesthetics, wabi-sabi, and mindful living
📦 Set Contents & Variants
Each set is presented in a premium gift box, available in two colour expressions and two configurations:
- 18-piece Zen Gold Set — Red (full ceremony set, most complete)
- 18-piece Zen Gold Set — Black (full ceremony set, classic dark)
- 10-piece Zen Gold Set — Red (compact, ideal for personal use or gifting)
- 10-piece Zen Gold Set — Black (compact, sleek and minimal)
💡 Packaging note: 10-piece sets ship 15 boxes per carton; 18-piece sets ship 9 boxes per carton. Full-carton purchase recommended to minimise transit risk for fragile ceramics.
🏺 Craftsmanship Notes
All pieces are hand-thrown, kiln-fired at high temperatures, and finished by artisan hands in Dehua County, Fujian Province — China's ceramic heartland. The gold tracing is applied by hand and baked at high temperature so it will not fade or discolour with use.
As with all authentic handcrafted ceramics, minor variations in form, surface texture, and glaze character are natural — these are not defects. They are the breath of the kiln, the mark of the maker.
"In Taoist craft, no two pieces are identical — just as no two moments of stillness feel the same. That is the beauty."
🌿 Your Calm-Down Ritual: How to Use This Set
- Set your tray. Arrange your cups. Let the act of preparation be the first breath.
- Boil filtered water. Rest it 30 seconds off the boil for delicate teas.
- Warm the teapot and cups with the first pour — this is called 醒茶 (awakening the tea).
- Add your chosen tea: aged pu-erh, roasted oolong, or chrysanthemum for evening calm.
- Pour slowly. Inhale the steam. Let your shoulders drop.
- Drink in silence. This is your how to calm down practice. This is Taiji living.
